Digital x-ray developer Thales has increased its production of Trixell digital radiography (DR) detectors at its factory in France in response to increased demand for x-ray systems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thales' facility in Moirans is running five shifts on a 24/7 schedule, according to the company. This should enable the plant to double its productivity and deliver 400 Trixell digital detectors per week.

Thales pointed out that since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the company has put in place health, safety, and hygiene measures designed to protect its staff, including team rotations and regular disinfection of equipment and facilities. The company also has hired additional manufacturing employees.

The firm's DR detectors are being used in both fixed-room and mobile x-ray systems to image patients suspected of having COVID-19.
