50° Wide-Angle Tomosynthesis ready for screening
With FDA-approved Insight 2D
A majority of breast care professionals have gained most of their expertise reading 2D mammography. With tomosynthesis growing into the screening environment, we aim to ease the transition from 2D to tomosynthesis with Insight 2D. Insight 2D enables fast prior comparison and intuitive breast density assessment1,2. Insight 2D is now FDA approved for diagnosis in combination with tomosynthesis.

Shaping the future of tomosynthesis in screening
At Siemens Healthineers, we believe that tomosynthesis will dominate the screening space in the near future. And we are convinced that 50° Wide-Angle Tomosynthesis is the superior method for cancer detection3. It provides the highest mass detectability4, increasing your diagnostic accuracy. Not only do we enable superior cancer detection3 with our 50° Wide-Angle Tomosynthesis, but we also deliver a patient-centric solution – with decreased compression and the right dose.

The angle makes the difference
The tomosynthesis angular range has an impact on mass conspicuity in patients with dense breasts. How does the angle affect breast structural noise or lesion detectability in digital breast tomosynthesis? Prof. Wei Zhao, PhD, from Stony Brook in New York, had a closer look at the physics behind the angle and studied how it affects the depiction of lesions in dense breast tissue. Watch her present the initial study results!
