The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) has elaborated on the recently published Standards of Practice for Interventional Radiology and Interventional Neuroradiology.

The standards, which were discussed during the RANZCR's annual scientific meeting in Adelaide, are applicable to all interventional radiology and interventional neuroradiology practices across Australia and New Zealand and list safe and effective preparation, delivery, and follow-up guidelines for such services.

They also offer a nationally consistent quality framework for interventional radiologists, interventional neuroradiologists, radiology leaders, specialist clinics, and hospital departments to support the delivery of optimal patient care and outcomes, the college said.

RANZCR added that these practice standards set minimum levels of performance across several domains, including governance, patient care, treatment planning, and delivery. The college said this will help reduce variation in the delivery of related healthcare services and safeguard patient safety.

The standards were first published by RANZCR in July. The full version can be found on RANZCR's site.
