MRI + mammography detects recurrent breast cancer
Adding MRI to mammography improves the detection of recurrent breast cancer in women who have been treated for the disease, according to a study published on June 22 in JAMA Oncology. What's more, MRI appears to be a better option than ultrasound as an adjunct to mammography.

FDA finds no health effects from gadolinium retention
There is no evidence that gadolinium remaining in the body after MRI contrast administration has any negative health effects, according to a review published on 22 May by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The announcement is unlikely to settle the debate over gadolinium contrast safety, however.
