Family history boosts contralateral breast cancer risk after radiotherapy

NEW YORK (Reuters Health), Nov 4 - Young patients with breast cancer who undergo lumpectomy followed by radiotherapy using tangential fields are at increased risk of contralateral breast cancer. This is particularly true for those with a positive family history of breast cancer, researchers report in the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
