CT for brain metastasis unnecessary after PET/CT
By
Eric Barnes
A CT scan is often ordered to find brain metastases in lung cancer patients. But if a whole-body PET/CT scan is already available from the original workup, there's no need for a dedicated CT scan, according to researchers from Belgium, who found that the CT portion of the PET/CT scan is enough for the initial diagnosis.

MRI beats PET for myocardial evaluation in patients with impaired LV function
By
Eric Barnes
While MRI is known to detect more myocardial scarring than PET in patients with occlusive coronary artery disease, a new study suggests that contrast-enhanced MRI can make a critical difference in treatment planning for revascularization candidates with severely impaired left ventricular (LV) function.
