ESUR issues new guidance on best use of prostate MRI

As a first step toward the greater standardization of prostate imaging, the European Society of Urogenital Radiology (ESUR) has published a guideline for MRI of the prostate. The ESUR Prostate Working Group has developed a structured reporting system, called PI-RADS (prostate imaging, reporting, and data system).

Radiologists may be sheltered from Elsevier boycott

The growing storm over pricing policies at academic publishing giant Elsevier does not appear to have reached radiology's shores, according to Dr. Hans Blickman, editor-in-chief of the European Journal of Radiology (EJR), an Elsevier title. Still, radiologists are likely to see more open-access articles as EJR adapts to the changing publishing environment.

Royal College opposes U.K. health reforms

The Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) has joined the ranks of U.K. organizations opposing the passage of the Health and Social Care Bill first introduced in Parliament more than a year ago. On 27 January, the RCR sent a special bulletin to its 8,900 members, stating its opposition to the legislation in its current form.
