Image analysis software developer Perspectum Diagnostics has received an Innovate UK grant to develop technology to improve the diagnosis and monitoring of type 2 diabetes.
The extra funding will allow Perspectum to stratify patients with type 2 diabetes using quantitative MRI to assess organs, including the liver, kidneys, pancreas, and spleen. The goal of combining these biomarkers into a medical device is to support the clinical management of a person's condition based on a single MRI scan.
In addition, the results will help improve patient compliance, reduce costs to the National Health Service (NHS), and enable better treatment for people with type 2 diabetes, the company said.
