Claron Technology gets European patent

Advanced visualization firm Claron Technology has received a patent from the European Patent Office for its MicronTracker system.

The MicronTracker optical pose tracking technology uses real-time stereoscopic vision to detect and track the location and orientation of specially marked objects in space. The objects, which may be an anatomic location or a surgical tool, are marked using small checkered target patterns.

Four different models are available to support different fields of measurement, frame rate, and precision, and all can be configured with multiple cameras to increase the field of measurement size and reduce line-of-sight interruption.

MicronTracker technology has been patented in the U.S. since 2005, according to the Canadian company. The patent issued by the European Patent Office is No. 1527417B1 for a "video pose tracking system and method."
