"We recommend wearing masks, but this is not mandatory," a European Society of Radiology (ESR) spokesperson told AuntMinnieEurope.com on 23 June. "In the U-Bahn, and all public transport within the city area of Vienna, you must wear a FFP2 mask."
Mask-wearing at the traditional ECR party on the evening of 16 July won't be obligatory. That will also be the case at the concert Guns N' Roses due to be held on 13 July at Ernst Happel Stadion and at the Rolling Stones gig at the same venue on 15 July. Each concert is likely to attract 40,000 or more people.

"Our policy throughout the pandemic was always to stick 100% to the rules set by the Austrian authorities," said the ESR spokesperson. "Currently there are no restrictions when entering Austria and almost no COVID restrictions at all. But the rules regarding masks are a bit stricter in Vienna than in the rest of the country."
Wearing an FFP2 mask in the Austrian capital is essential on public transport and in enclosed stops, stations, and platforms. It is also required in pharmacies and in the health sector. Further details are available on the Wien Info website.
"We will not check COVID vaccination certificates at ECR," added the spokesperson.
ECR 2022 runs from 13 to 17 July. You can download the program from the ESR website. The AuntMinnieEurope.com editorial team will be onsite throughout the congress, providing live updates from the meeting.
