Italians show DBT detects more early-stage breast cancers

Digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) pinpoints more cancers than digital mammography at repeat screening and finds a lower number of stage II and higher cancers, according to a large Italian study. The results suggest DBT depicts cancer that might soon become advanced, said Dr. Francesca Caumo from the Veneto Institute of Oncology in Padua.

U.K. research team shines a light on risks of HRT

BMJ
has confirmed the risks of hormone replacement therapy (HRT), especially for formulations that contain progesterone. It has also indicated that the risk of developing breast cancer is higher for women in their 70s and those with long-term use.
