March 1, 2019 -- Artificial intelligence (AI) software developer Zebra Medical Vision has received the CE Mark for two AI algorithms capable of flagging critical cases on emergency x-rays and CT scans.

The AI algorithms can detect acute conditions on x-rays and CT scans and deliver a message alert to the appropriate department without compromising the conventional radiology workflow, Zebra said.

A clinical validation study led by Zebra researchers found that the AI algorithms reduced the time it took radiologists and emergency physicians to identify acute conditions on chest x-ray and head CT scans by as much as 80%. The AI technology is currently available for sale only in the European Union.
