Dr. William Ramsden.
Ramsden, a consultant pediatric radiologist at Leeds Children's Hospital, will begin his three-year term later this month, according to the RCR.
"When I went into radiology, it still felt a slightly unusual career choice and something that wasn't quite mainstream, so I liked the idea of that," he told the RCR in an interview in 2016. "It was a specialty that was expanding, with numerous technological advancements, and it felt a very exciting place to go. I have never regretted it."
"When people look at radiology from the outside, they sometimes don't see how exciting or how interesting it is," Ramsden added. "I can’t imagine anything else outside radiology. However, I have great respect for people who do academic work, especially as my son is currently doing a PhD. If I had the strength, patience and skills, I would love to work in a university and do research."
"I am a paediatric radiologist and the people who are really important as a doctor are the patients, their mums and dads, and all the colleagues I work with," he said.
