Editorial Advisory Board
The AuntMinnieEurope.com Editorial Advisory Board comprises a diverse group of medical imaging professionals who have a wide cross-section of special interests and experience levels. They help to oversee and assist in the direction of AuntMinnieEurope's editorial strategy. Below is a biographical sketch for each adviser.
Dr. Miraude Adriaensen, PhD, radiologist, Zuyderland Medical Center, Heerlen, the Netherlands
Dr. Miraude Adriaensen has been a staff radiologist at the Zuyderland Medical Center teaching hospital since 2009. Her main interests are musculoskeletal radiology, the mammography screening program, and research. In 2010, she received the diploma of the European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology (ESSR). In 2011, she completed her PhD thesis at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands promoted by Prof. Mathias Prokop, PhD. She is the past chair of the ESSR educational committee (2018-2021) and member of the ESSR Executive Committee since 2021 (currently as Secretary General). She is also the current chair of the Policy Committee of the Accreditation Council in Imaging (ACI).
Thomas Beyer, PhD, MBA, professor of physics of medical imaging, Medical University of Vienna, Austria
Thomas Beyer, PhD, is a professor of physics of medical imaging and deputy head of the Center for Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering at the Medical University of Vienna. He is also past president of the European Society for Hybrid, Molecular and Translation Imaging (ESHIMT). He holds a doctorate in physics and is co-developer of the first combined PET/CT system worldwide. His research interests include multimodality imaging in clinical practice and the use of multiparametric image information for state-of-the-art therapy planning and follow-up.
Prof. Arturo Chiti, professor in diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy, Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, Milan
Arturo Chiti is professor in diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, Vita-Salute San Raffaele University and director of the Department of Nuclear Medicine, IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele. He is also editor in chief at the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging and past president of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine.
Dr. Neelam Dugar, consultant radiologist, Doncaster Royal Infirmary, U.K.
Dr. Neelam Dugar is a consultant radiologist and clinical PACS lead at the Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals in the U.K. She is chair of the Royal College of Radiologists' Radiology Informatics Committee, which produced a 2021 report on "Integrating artificial intelligence with the radiology reporting workflows," and is vice-president of the U.K. Radiological Congress' informatics track. She writes a regular column for AuntMinnieEurope.com about healthcare informatics and PACS.
Dr. Elisabetta Giannotti, consultant breast radiologist, Cambridge Breast Unit, Addenbrooke's Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, U.K.
Dr. Elisabetta Giannotti has worked as a consultant radiologist since 2015, having previously been at the Nottingham Breast Institute City Hospital. She completed a 5-year residency in radiology at the University Hospital of Florence, Italy. She is a founding member of the European Society of Breast Imaging (EUSOBI) Young Club and a member of the Equivalence Committee of the Royal College of Radiologists.
Dr. Rossano Girometti, associate professor radiology, University Hospital, Udine, Italy
Dr. Rossano Girometti is an associate professor of radiology at the University Hospital of Udine in Italy. He is also deputy editor European Radiology. His main field of interest is body MRI, with special emphasis on liver, pancreaticobiliary, gastrointestinal, and gynecologic imaging.
Dr. Andreas Gutzeit, radiologist, Hirslanden Klinik St. Anna, Lucerne, Switzerland
Dr. Andreas Gutzeit is a professor of radiology and holds a degree in health management and communication psychology. He teaches at ETH Zurich and the University of Salzburg, and he works as a radiologist at the Hirslanden Klinik St. Anna in Lucerne, Switzerland. His main research interests are general radiology, quality management, economy in medicine, and oncology.
Dr. Barbora Horehledova, radiology & nuclear medicine resident, Zuyderland Medical Center, Heerlen, the Netherlands
Dr. Barbora Horehledova has been a radiology & nuclear medicine resident at Zuyderland Medical Center since 2020. She is chair of the ESSR Young Club, a delegate of the ESR's Radiology Trainee Forum, and one of the program directors of the ESSR Webinars. She did her medical studies at Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic, from 2009 to 2015, and was a clinical skills teacher for general medicine at Maastricht University, the Netherlands, from 2018 to 2020.

Dr. Syed Junaid is a consultant radiologist, Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend, U.K. He is the founder of RadJobs, a U.K. radiology jobs website. He graduated in medicine from Imperial College London and is an elected member of the Royal College of Radiologists' (RCR) International Committee. He also represented Wales on the RCR's Trainees' Forum.
Dr. Christiane Kuhl, director, department of diagnostic and interventional radiology, University Hospital RWTH Aachen, Germany
Dr. Christiane Kuhl is director and professor in the department of diagnostic and interventional radiology at University Hospital RWTH Aachen in Germany. She was awarded a gold medal by the International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine in 2015, and she was president of the 104th German Congress of Radiology, RöKo 2023. She is a member of the Working Group on Breast MRI at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland, U.S., and a member of the Breast Section of the American College of Radiology Imaging Network.
Dr. Andrea Laghi, professor of radiology, department of radiological sciences, Sapienza University of Rome, Italy
Dr. Andrea Laghi is a professor of radiology at Sapienza University of Rome and director of the CT and MRI unit at Polo Pontino, Latina, a new university hospital that forms part of Sapienza. He is the chairman of the education committee and a member of the executive committee of the European Society of Gastrointestinal and Abdominal Radiology (ESGAR) and is coordinator of ESGAR's CT colonography hands-on workshops. In 2005, he received the Editor's Recognition Award from Radiology.
Dr. Leo Lawler, clinical director of radiology, clinical professor, cross sectional and interventional radiology, Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Dublin
Before returning to his homeland, Dr. Leo Lawler undertook a vascular and nonvascular interventional radiology fellowship at Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, U.S., in 2004-2005, and was assistant professor of radiology at the Johns Hopkins University in 2006. His main interests are cardiovascular diagnostic imaging, oncologic diagnostic imaging, vascular and oncologic interventional imaging, and audit/safety.
Dr. Catherine Mandel, MRI radiologist, Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia
Dr. Catherine Mandel is an MRI radiologist at Swinburne University of Technology. She is also a radiologist at Lake Imaging and director of radiology for WA Country Health Service. She is former secretary general of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Neuroradiology (ANZSNR) and was lead radiologist with the now-disbanded Radiology Events Register (RaER). Her research interests include neuro-oncology imaging and patient safety.
Emil Ljungberg, PhD, postdoctoral fellow, department of medical radiation physics, Lund University, Sweden
Emil Ljungberg is an MRI physicist conducting research into pulse sequence development for neuroimaging applications. He completed a master’s degree at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, followed by a PhD in neuroimaging physics at King’s College London. In 2021, he took up a postdoc position at Lund University, where he is leading research projects into ultralow-field MRI.
Dr. Luis Martí-Bonmatí, PhD, head of radiology, Quirónsalud Hospital, Valencia, Spain
Dr. Martí-Bonmatí has been head of the radiology department at Quirónsalud Hospital in Valencia, Spain, since 1997. He became chairman of the radiology department and director of medical imaging at La Fe University and Polytechnic Hospital in Valencia, in 2009. Since 2012, he has been director of the Research Group on Biomedical Imaging (GIBI230) within La Fe Health Research Center. He also co-founded QUIBIM (Quantitative Imaging Biomarkers in Medicine), and is editor-in-chief of Insights into Imaging.
Dr. Sergey Morozov, PhD, MPH, chief innovation officer, Osimis, Liège, Belgium
Dr. Sergey Morozov is chief innovation officer with the Belgian software developer Osimis. Until early March 2022, he was the CEO and a professor at the Research and Practice Center of Medical Radiology in Moscow, as well as the chief radiology officer of Moscow. He is a past president of the European Society of Medical Imaging Informatics. His special interests include management techniques, organizational principles, computer applications, and education formats.
Dr. Christiane Nyhsen, radiologist, Strasbourg, France
Dr. Christiane Nyhsen worked in the U.K. as a radiologist for 17 years, most recently as a consultant radiologist at Sunderland Royal Hospital. She was vice chair of the U.K. Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) Radiology Trainees Forum and chair of the European Society of Radiology (ESR) Radiology Trainees Forum. Her main clinical interest is ultrasound.
Dr. Anagha Parkar, radiologist, Haraldsplass Diakonale Sykehus, Bergen, Norway
Dr. Anagha Parkar has been a staff radiologist at Haraldsplass Diakonale Sykehus since 2008. She was previously a staff radiologist at the Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen, having trained there from 2001 to 2006. She is a former president of the European Society of Radiology's Radiology Trainees Forum. Her main interests are chest, cardiac, musculoskeletal, and emergency radiology.
Dr. Annie Paterson, consultant pediatric radiologist, Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children, Belfast, U.K.
Dr. Annie Paterson has held her current post since 1999. She completed her medical training at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, University of London, and took a fellowship in pediatric radiology at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina, U.S. She is pediatric section editor of EuroRad and is an editorial board member of Pediatric Radiology. She is a member of the Scientific Programme Committee of the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR), and was twice awarded the Constance Thornton Fellowship in Pediatric Radiology by the RCR. She is trust specialty co-ordinator for radiology, and sits on the Trust Education Board and the Board of the Northern Ireland School of Radiology.
Dr. Filippo Pesapane, PhD, radiologist, European Institute of Oncology (IEO), Milan
Dr. Filippo Pesapane has a keen interest in the practical applications of AI in breast imaging and understanding women's perceptions and attitudes toward the use of AI in breast cancer diagnosis. He had spells at Gent University Hospital in Belgium; at the NIH in Bethesda, Maryland, U.S.; and at the King's College and Royal Marsden Hospitals in London. He was the recipient of the 2019 EuroMinnies Radiology Rising Star award.
Dr. Viktoria Pozdnyakova, consultant radiologist, Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, Harlow, U.K.
Dr. Viktoria Pozdnyakova is a committee member of the ESR's Radiology Trainees Forum. She began working as a resident doctor at Stavanger University Hospital in 2015, having been a medical intern at Molde Regional Hospital in Hordaland County, Norway. In 2013 to 2014, she was a scientific researcher at the Norwegian Radium Hospital, Oslo, and a guest researcher at Winterthur Kantonspital in Switzerland. She was educated at the Saint-Petersburg State I.P. Pavlov Medical University and Russian Research Center for Radiology and Surgical Technologies.
Dr. Alexander Radbruch, JD, chair of diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology and professor at Rheinische Friedrich Wilhelms University Bonn, Germany
Dr. Alexander Radbruch, JD, is an chair of diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology and professor at Rheinische Friedrich Wilhelms University Bonn, Germany. His area of expertise is new MRI contrast agents, contrast agent safety, and artificial intelligence in radiology. He additionally holds a law degree and is interested in medicolegal issues.
Dr. Erik Ranschaert, PhD, past president of the European Society of Medical Imaging Informatics (EuSoMII)
Dr. Erik Ranschaert, PhD, is past president of the European Society of Medical Imaging Informatics (EuSoMII) and visiting professor at Ghent University in Belgium. His main interests are musculoskeletal, abdominal, and cardiac radiology. He was a co-founder of Eurad Consult, one of Europe's first teleradiology companies, and he also started EUFORA, one of the first discussion groups for radiologists. He is a past chairman of the ECR computer applications subcommittee, and is a member of the Scientific Editorial Board of Insights into Imaging.
Dr. Peter Rinck, PhD, president, Council of The Round Table Foundation (TRTF)
Dr. Peter Rinck, PhD, was senior research associate, State University of New York, Stony Brook, U.S., working with Dr. Paul C. Lauterbur, winner of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2003. He worked as adjunct professor at the University of Mons, Belgium, and professor of medical Imaging at the University of Trondheim, Norway. He has held appointments at the European Magnetic Resonance Forum, European Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and Biology, World Health Organization, European Commission, and the Nobel Committee. Dr. Soraya Robinson, radiologist, Diagnose Zentrum Urania, Vienna
Dr. Soraya Robinson has worked as a general radiologist in the University Hospitals in Vienna and Helsinki, and is now based in a diagnostic center in Vienna. She is an active member of the European Society of Head and Neck Radiology, past chairman of the ECR Head and Neck Subcommittee, and member of the Program Planning Committee for ECR 2014 and 2015. In February 2014, she was made a professor by the University of Vienna. Her special focus is head and neck imaging, including maxillofacial radiology.
Dr. Mitja Rupreht, PhD, assistant professor of radiology at Medical Faculty, University of Maribor, former head of radiology, University Medical Center Maribor, Slovenia
Dr. Mitja Rupreht has worked as a radiologist since 2004. He is an examiner at the national specialist exam board in Slovenia and an auditor of the Medical Chamber of Slovenia. He is a councilor and member of the Executive Committee of the European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology. Additionally, he is a Slovenian delegate at the ESR Quality, Safety, and Standards Committee. He is president of the Professional Council for Imaging at the Slovenian Medical Society. His main interests are musculoskeletal and emergency radiology.
Dr. Fatih Seker, neuroradiology fellow, Heidelberg University Hospital, Germany
Dr. Fatih Seker is a fellow at the department of neuroradiology at Heidelberg University Hospital. He is a coordinator of undergraduate neuroradiology lectures at Heidelberg University and a co-opted member of the undergraduate education subcommittee of the European Society of Radiology. His research focuses on imaging in acute ischemic stroke and thrombectomy. Also, he is medical coordinator at the FAST stroke consortium, a stroke network in the Rhine-Neckar region in Germany.
Dr. Valentin Sinitsyn, PhD, chair of the radiology department, Federal Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Moscow
Dr. Valentin Sinitsyn, PhD, is the chair of the radiology department at the Federal Medical and Rehabilitation Center in Moscow, the director of the radiology course of the medical faculty at Moscow Lomonosov University, and a pioneer of MRI and CT in Russia. His research interests are concentrated on cardiac imaging, abdominal radiology, contrast media, and computer applications in radiology. He is president of the European Society of Cardiac Radiology (ESCR), president of the 2014 European Congress of Radiology (ECR), a member of the Executive Committee of the Russian Association of Radiologists, and past president of the Russian National Congress of Radiologists.
Dr. Philippa Tyler, consultant musculoskeletal radiologist, Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, U.K.
Dr. Philippa Tyler reports musculoskeletal plain film, CT, and MRI studies. She routinely performs ultrasound-, fluoroscopy-, and CT-guided interventional musculoskeletal procedures, including general diagnostic and therapeutic steroid and local anesthetic injections, arthrograms, facet joint injections, and bone and soft-tissue tumor biopsies. She leads weekly spinal multidisciplinary team meetings at her hospital, and is involved in several research projects, including two new studies about MR-guided focused ultrasound.
Dr. Claudia Weidekamm, Radiologist, Mercy Radiology and District Health Board Waitemata, Auckland, New Zealand
Dr. Claudia Weidekamm is a musculoskeletal (MSK) radiology specialist and worked as associate professor of radiology at the Medical University of Vienna. She has an MBA in healthcare services and is certified for quality management. She also organizes MSK courses in Vienna and Auckland. She is a past chair of the arthritis and MSK ultrasound subcommittees of the Austrian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine.
