Canon Medical Systems has joined forces with Olympus to unveil its latest ultrasound offering: the Aplio i800 EUS.
The hybrid machine is particularly effective for detecting small lesions in the pancreas, Akihiro Sano, general manager of ultrasound systems at Canon Medical Systems Corporation, told a press briefing held on 15 January.
Toshio Takiguchi, president and CEO of Canon Medical Systems Corporation, and Frank Drewalowski, executive officer and endoscopic solutions division head at Olympus Corporation, officially launch the Aplio i800 EUS machine on 15 January.
Clinical trials on the system are to be conducted at Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen, Norway, and other reference sites. Global sales are scheduled to commence in Japan and Europe in June of 2024, with plans for future expansion into the U.S. market, according to Canon.
The new product will be marketed and sold by Olympus. Canon Medical and Olympus are focusing on technological advancements and enhancing diagnostic performance in the endoscopic ultrasound field, with plans for global expansion, starting in Japan and Europe, the vendors stated.
