Siemens Healthineers will continue to operate in Russia, a company spokesperson has confirmed to AuntMinnieEurope.com. The healthcare company does not plan to pull out of the country, in spite of the decision by Siemens AG to discontinue operations in Russia.

Siemens AG announced on 12 May that it planned to pull out of Russia, ending 170 years of operation in the country. Siemens AG cited Russia's invasion of Ukraine as the reason for the move.

The decision is not being followed by Siemens Healthineers, however, according to the spokesperson. The company maintains that "access to healthcare is a fundamental human right," and the firm will comply with all sanctions and export control laws.

"Please note that the decision of Siemens AG to exit Russia does not include Siemens Healthineers," the spokesperson said. "As previously communicated, we at Siemens Healthineers continue to support healthcare providers and their patients in Russia with products and services."

Siemens Healthineers was spun off from Siemens AG in 2018 and operates as an independent company. Siemens AG maintains a 75% stake in Siemens Healthineers, however.
