PACS vendor Sectra reported a more than 27% increase in net sales and a sharp increase in order bookings for its fiscal 2018-2019 fourth quarter.

For the period (end-30 April), Sectra had net sales of 474.1 million Swedish kronor (44.3 million euros), up 32.8% on a nominal basis and up 27.3% on a currency-comparable basis from the 357.1 million kronor (33.4 million euros) produced in the fourth quarter of 2017-2018. In addition, order bookings reached 1.105 billion kronor (103.1 million euros) -- more than double the 500.3 million kronor (46.7 million euros) posted in the same period last year. The company had profit after tax of 90.4 million kronor (8.5 million euros), down from 98.2 million kronor (9.2 million euros) a year ago.

For 2018-2019, Sectra had net sales of 1.414 billion kronor (139.6 million euros), up 16.9% on a nominal basis and up 12% on a currency-comparable basis from the 1.209 billion kronor (113 million euros) reported in 2017-2018. The vendor had order bookings for the year of 2.133 billion kronor (199.9 million euros), compared with 1.493 billion kronor (139.2 million euros) posted last year. The company had profit after tax of 199 million kronor (18.6 million euros), up from the 184.7 million kronor (17.3 million euros) achieved in the previous year.

In a statement, Sectra President and CEO Torbjörn Kronander said that growth initiatives and new geographic markets in both medical imaging IT and cybersecurity are beginning to gain momentum. The firm's order bookings growth was primarily attributable to major multiyear customer contracts from its imaging IT solutions business, he said.
