Medical device and software developer BrainTale has raised more than one million euros in its first financing round.

Founded in 2018, Paris-based BrainTale has received the CE Mark for brainQuant, a software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering for quantifying brain lesions on diffusion MRI exams. The firm is also developing BrainScore-coma, a SaaS application that combines brainQuant with artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to predict coma emergence in intensive care patients after severe brain injuries. BrainTale said it expects to receive the CE Mark for BrainScore-coma by mid-2021.

The funding package includes a loan from Bpifrance, as well as investments from business angels, as well as industry and healthcare professionals, according to BrainTale. The company said it will use the funds to implement its development and commercialization strategy.
