Organizers opt for sports imaging as theme for IDoR 2019

The European Society of Radiology (ESR) has announced that sports imaging will be the theme for the eighth annual International Day of Radiology (IDoR) on 8 November 2019.

IDoR was launched in 2012 as a joint initiative of ESR, RSNA, and the American College of Radiology (ACR) to mark the day Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen discovered x-rays and to raise awareness of radiology's contributions to medicine and patient care.

Some of radiology's most advanced imaging methods are used to diagnose and treat professional and amateur athletes. The ESR is currently interviewing sports imaging specialists from around the world, and their comments and profiles will be published on the IDoR website later this year. The organizers are also collaborating with the European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology (ESSR) on a special book about sports imaging. The plan is to publish the book in the fall.

Available in 30 languages, the IDoR 2019 poster can be downloaded on the IDoR website.
