The British Institute of Radiology (BIR) and Siemens Healthineers will provide 1,000 pounds (1,168 euros) to groups developing new research proposals in the fields of radiology, radiotherapy, oncology, radiography, and medical physics.

The award is intended to serve as a starting point for researchers to "get their projects off the ground," BIR President Dr. Jane Phillips-Hughes said in a statement. Last year's recipient was Dr. Andrew Nanapragasam of King's College Hospital, London, for his research project on identifying muscle fibers affected by motor neuron disease.

Interested parties can apply by sending a completed application form and a 750-word outline of the proposed research project to [email protected] by 30 April 2020.
