BIR partners with Philips on 2 awards

The British Institute of Radiology (BIR) and Philips Healthcare have partnered for two awards for trainees and students.

The BIR/Philips Trainee Award for Excellence is meant to foster the development of multidisciplinary educational resources by and for trainees. Trainees must submit an educational resource related to the theory and practice of radiology and radiation oncology. It must also be a resource that can be hosted on the BIR's website.

Applications will be accepted from groups of two or more (with at least two of the group coming from different disciplines). The winning group will receive a cash prize of 750 pounds (1,002 euros) and a certificate.

The BIR/Philips Student Travel Bursary aims to offer educational opportunities to students of any discipline to access opportunities that otherwise wouldn't be available to them. Any full-time student may apply for the bursary, which provides financial assistance to attend a radiology or radiation oncology training event.

Applications will be accepted from everyone in radiology, radiation oncology, and the underlying sciences provided they are members of BIR -- free for students and subsidized for trainees.

Both awards will be judged by the BIR Education Panel, which will include a representative from Philips.

Applications are due by 28 February and may be applied for on the BIR website.
