EIBIR begins drafting research agenda

The European Institute for Biomedical Imaging Research (EIBIR) said it has begun the process of drafting a strategic research agenda for biomedical imaging.

The agenda, which is being developed by the EIBIR team in Vienna in collaboration with a dedicated taskforce from the EIBIR scientific advisory board, will be aimed at informing policymakers of key areas of imaging research and hot topics to consider in future funding programs, according to the EIBIR.

"This is an important endeavor toward securing European funding for our research, ultimately benefiting biomedical imaging researchers, and, in the long term, of course patients," EIBIR Scientific Director Dr. Gabriel Krestin said in a statement.

So far, the EIBIR has identified the following four topics for inclusion in the agenda:

  • Preventing disease through precision medicine with imaging
  • Contribution to a healthy start
  • Targeted and precision therapies
  • Impact of environment and lifestyle on health

An initial draft of the agenda will be released in early 2018, according to the institute. Suggestions can also be emailed to the EIBIR team.
