Estonian firm turns ultrasound data into 3D-printed baby statues

Marketing communications firm Sirbonu of Estonia is now creating 3D-printed baby statues from ultrasound data.

The firm converts a 3D ultrasound scan into a 3D file used for printing the baby statue. All that's required is a volume file or DICOM file from the ultrasound unit. The volume file is converted and cleaned up by Sirbonu and saved as a stereolithography (STL) file, which can be viewed in a 3D program and either kept in digital format as a photo or 3D printed in any material.
