RCR updates interventional oncology guideline

The U.K.'s Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) has published the second edition of its guidelines on interventional oncology.

"Interventional oncology: Guidance for service delivery" offers best practices for techniques used in the diagnosis, treatment, or palliation of patients with cancer through current, effective models, according to the RCR.

The RCR said the guidelines review current practice models and ensure that areas of clinical responsibility are clear. It also highlights the importance of interventional radiology procedures as part of a multidisciplinary care pathway for patients.

In addition, the document provides generic best practices on topics such as data collection, outcome measures, and quality assurance, according to the RCR.
