The British Institute of Radiology (BIR) has appointed Simon Thompson as its new chief executive, effective immediately. He replaces Jacqueline Fowler who served as BIR's chief executive for the past eight years.

Thompson has held senior positions in both the commercial and nonprofit sectors, primarily with organizations that provide technical and educational content for specialist professionals. He also served in various positions at news, data, and events firm IJGlobal and real-time information business DeHavilland.
