Cerner secures healthcare IT contract in Qatar

Healthcare information systems firm Cerner has signed an agreement with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) to digitize the entire public health system of Qatar, including all HMC hospitals and primary care clinics.

Cerner will act as prime contractor and clinical information systems integrator to digitize the country's public health system on a single computing platform using Cerner Millennium architecture.

The Kansas City, MO-headquartered company said that the HMC hospitals and clinics will integrate approximately 100 Cerner solutions and 11 third party-solutions with its electronic health record over the next five years.

HMC, established by Emiri degree in 1979, is the primary nonprofit healthcare provider in Doha. It manages seven specialized hospitals, including a dedicated heart hospital and a women's hospital.
