Eizo buys Siemens' medical display unit

Eizo Nanao, parent company of display provider Eizo Nanao Technologies of Cypress, CA, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the medical monitor business of Siemens Automation and Drives in Nuremberg, Germany.

The Ishikawa, Japan-based company would obtain the division's operations in Karlsruhe, Germany, as well as some 130 employees in Germany, U.S., France, and China, in the transaction.

Sales revenue for the medical monitor business totaled 59 million euros ($79.3 million U.S.) in fiscal-year 2006 (end-September 30).

The companies expect to complete the acquisition before the end of the year.
