By Edna Astbury-Ward, PhD, AuntMinnieEurope.com contributing writer

March 16, 2021 -- Norway has the highest-paid radiologists in Europe, followed by Iceland, Austria, the Netherlands, and France, but their earnings continue to lag well behind those of colleagues in the U.S. and Japan, according to a new global survey.

The average remuneration for a Norwegian radiologist is 271,590 pounds (316,459 euros) -- more than 44,000 pounds (51,270 euros) less than their counterparts in the U.S., stated Lenstore, the vision care company that conducted the research.

The average salary of a radiologist in Italy is 135,119 pounds (157,354 euros), while the figure for Portugal is 130,923 pounds (152,575 euros).

Lenstore also looked at the average salaries of neurologists, where practitioners in Japan and Australia came out on top. Among European nations, the U.K., Denmark, and Norway fared best.
