June 21, 2022 -- The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) and the Australian Diagnostic Imaging Association (ADIA) have released a set of terminologies aimed at enhancing interoperability for digital imaging services.

Called the Radiology Referral Set (RRS), this collection of clinical SNOMED CT-AU terminologies can be used in the background of software systems from referrers, yielding enhanced interoperability and data accuracy between referrers and radiology providers, according to the organizations.

As it's standards-based, the RRS can easily be updated and maintained, RANZCR and ADIA said. It includes an initial set of 20 radiology services codes, machine-readable artifacts, and guiding principles and standards to develop a full Australian Radiology Referral Set.
