Philips announced in August that Jakobs would be named to succeed current president and CEO Frans van Houten, and the appointment was confirmed at the company's extraordinary general meeting of shareholders.

Jakobs will oversee the company's efforts to help improve the health and well-being of people globally, as well as further shape the company for increased value creation for shareholders and all other stakeholders.
