CCTV footage captured Tristan Morgan pouring petrol through the window of the 18th-century synagogue in Exeter in July 2019. At the time, Morgan was working as a radiographer at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.
A Health and Care Professions Tribunal struck Morgan off the register after being told he was obsessed with anti-Semitic material and had shown no remorse for his actions. A racist handwritten note, material related to white supremacy, and 24 knives were found during a search of his home, the Daily Mail reported on 19 February.
"The nature and gravity of Morgan's conviction is such that only a striking-off order would be sufficient to protect the public and maintain and declare proper standards of conduct and behavior, to maintain the reputation of the profession, and to maintain public confidence in the profession," the tribunal concluded, according to the article.
The attack led to repairs costing more than 23,000 pounds. Morgan is being detained indefinitely in a mental health institution.
