October 6, 2015 -- Radiation therapy firm Varian Medical Systems has signed a licensing agreement with the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics in Germany for a radiotherapy treatment planning software algorithm.

The radiotherapy treatment planning software is designed to help clinicians quickly select an optimal treatment plan, according to the vendor. The deal becomes effective January 1, 2016, and covers intellectual property, software, and a dedicated researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute, who will work with Varian developers to integrate the algorithm with Varian's Eclipse treatment planning software.
