The motto for the event on 8 November 2020 is "Radiologists and radiographers supporting patients during COVID-19," and the idea is to highlight achievements and challenges for the specialty since the start of the pandemic. Organizers are planning to create an e-book about the pandemic and are asking medical imaging professionals to submit a written report and pictures illustrating their experiences for inclusion by 5 November. Radiologists and radiographers are also encouraged to publicize their contributions by posting Twitter on 8 November, using the hashtag #IDoR2020.

IDoR is held every year on 8 November in celebration of Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen's discovery of x-rays in 1895; each year, a different theme is selected as the focus for festivities worldwide. The event is organized by the European Society of Radiology, the RSNA, and the American College of Radiology, as well as other specialty societies.
