September 9, 2008 -- Virtual colonoscopy readers saw a greater percentage of the colonic mucosa by increasing the field-of-view on their 3D software to match that of a standard colonoscope. However, the wider viewing angle may have also reduced polyp conspicuity and increased distortion, with unknown effects on detection sensitivity.

US-guided core-needle breast biopsy offers alternative to surgery

PACS data-mining tool analyzes CR retake rates
August 5, 2008 -- Researchers from Spain have developed software that analyzes PACS data to automatically perform quality control analysis of retake rates of computed radiography studies. They believe their QC tool could make it easier for imaging facilities to reduce retakes and improve the overall quality of service.
