Kromek announces new contracts worth 2.7M euros

Radiation detection technology firm Kromek has received new contracts worth more than 2.7 million euros, including agreements with the U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency and the U.K. Ministry of Defense.

Kromek won six new contracts across all of its business segments, with products expected to be delivered over the next six to 24 months. The largest award comes from the U.S. Defense Threat Reduction Agency for $1.6 million U.S. (1.45 million euros) for a two-year agreement to use the company's technology platform to develop a ruggedized high-performance isotope radiation detector capable of use in military and other harsh environments.

The other contracts include the following:

  • A contract worth 391,000 euros with the U.K. Ministry of Defense for the supply of nuclear radiation detection products.
  • An extension to an existing contract to extend the development and delivery of nuclear radiation detection devices for a major civil nuclear partner amounting to 253,000 euros.
  • An agreement for the supply of cadmium zinc telluride-based gamma radiation detectors with an existing medical customer with a minimum value of 509,000 euros over the two-year agreement.
  • Two contracts totaling 241,000 euros for the company's bottle scanners from an Asian airport group and components for screening systems from an existing customer. These contracts are also expected to be implemented over the next six months.
