ECR seeks to broaden appeal among radiographers

With the aim of making the ECR an essential meeting for radiographers, the European Society of Radiology (ESR) is collaborating with the European Federation of Radiographer Societies (EFRS) to expand the ECR's program to include a wide range of content geared toward radiographers.

ECR 2017 will feature nine refresher courses, two professional challenges sessions on different aspects of teamwork between radiologists and radiographers, and a special focus session on the role of radiographers in pediatric imaging. In addition, ECR 2017 will offer a dedicated pros and cons session on ultrasound service and an EFRS Workshop on authorship and reviewing, according to the ESR.

The society also noted the EFRS meets session at ECR 2017 will feature Belgium as the guest country; the Association des Professionnels en Imagerie Médicale and the Vereniging Medisch Beeldvormers will present the achievements of their country's radiographers.

In other developments, the ESR has added the EFRS Radiographers' Basic Session to its Rising Stars program. A separate session for radiographers will also be included for the first time in the ECR's The Voice of EPOS platform for poster presentations.

The ESR board has also decided to offer simultaneous translations for the majority of radiographer sessions at ECR 2017 into German, Italian, Polish, and Spanish, said ESR Board of Directors Chair Dr. Katrine Riklund in a statement. In addition, the ESR is offering for a limited time a reduced ECR 2017 registration fee of 99 euros for all of its radiographer members.
