Philips adds wireless sharing to mobile DR
By AuntMinnieEurope.com staff writers

June 1, 2012 -- Philips Healthcare said it has made wireless portable detector (WPD) sharing functionality available on its static and mobile digital radiography (DR) and radiography/fluoroscopy equipment.

WPD sharing addresses hospital x-ray demands by providing several digital imaging capabilities while keeping costs to a minimum, the firm said. It also enables clinicians to substitute one detector for each modality with a single wireless portable detector that can be shared among multiple systems, increasing flexibility.

The new sharing capability optimizes detector utilization and therefore reduces initial investment for hospitals, allowing them to use the same piece of equipment in different rooms, increasing uptime, Philips said. The system automatically charges when placed in the wireless tray of a system or docking station.
