April 5, 2012 -- Philips Healthcare has formed a partnership with University Medical Center Utrecht (UMCU), Utrecht University, and Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands to create theInstitute for Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging (IDII).
Philips and the three institutions will share their resources to research and develop new methods for disease diagnosis and treatment based on medical imaging.
Specifically, the public-private collaboration will focus on more effective treatments for cancer, brain disease, and cardiovascular disease through new image-guided minimally invasive treatments based on MRI and x-ray.
The resources include the clinical laboratories of the UMCU and the scanner technology research facilities at High Tech Campus Eindhoven.
