Kromek finalizes additional $1M contract

Radiation detection technology company Kromek has been awarded an additional $1 million contract for the continued development of digital detectors based on cadmium zinc telluride (CZT).

The extension follows Kromek's completion of the first phase of design of the detectors. Under the terms of the contract for this second phase, Kromek will focus over the next 12 months on the delivery of the new detectors as well as the testing and characterization of detector modules.

In addition, the company has won several new contracts worth 700,000 British pounds ($1.1 million U.S.). These contracts include developing CZT-based detector modules for bone mineral density applications, according to Kromek.

Finally, the firm has inked another contract with Innovate UK, under which it will develop a radiation detector for medical and nuclear markets.
