BIR releases film on radiology in WWI

The British Institute of Radiology (BIR) has released a short film that will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of World War I and radiology's role on the battlefields.

The film, "Radiology and WW1: Objects and People," will be available as the world celebrates the International Day of Medical Physics on 7 November and the International Day of Radiology on 8 November.

The film highlights key people of the time, including scientists Marie Curie and Edith Stoney, and radiologist Florence Stoney. It also features objects such as an original x-ray "Coolidge" tube, original x-rays of injuries, equipment used at the time, and journal articles, the BIR said. The film can be viewed here.
