Agfa to highlight dose reduction at RSNA 2014

Agfa HealthCare said that it plans to emphasize radiation dose reduction capabilities and new IT tools at the upcoming RSNA 2014 meeting in Chicago.

In addition to its recently announced Fast Forward DR digital radiography (DR) upgrade program, Agfa will be pointing to new dose reduction capabilities on its cesium bromide needle-based image plates and its DR technology. The dose reduction methods, which recently received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance, can lower dose by up to 60% in pediatric and neonatal imaging in comparison with traditional computed radiography (CR) technology, according to the vendor.

In IT developments, Agfa said it will be showcasing real-time chat and collaboration tools, along with image transfer capability and workflow orchestration techniques. A range of clinical applications and image processing tools will also be on display, Agfa said.

The company will discuss its productivity tools as well as capabilities for mobile, zero-footprint image viewing, mobile sign-off of reports, and mobile capture and uploading of images. In support of a patient-centric image record, Agfa said its software can also now perform multimedia capture of images and video.

Agfa also said it's building an Enterprise Imaging Suite to support radiology customers who are redesigning care.
