Agfa hikes price of medical film
By AuntMinnieEurope.com staff writers

May 3, 2011 -- Agfa HealthCare has announced an increase in the price of medical film due to rising silver costs.

The price of silver, a key ingredient in medical film, has tripled during the past 14 months. The price increase goes beyond efficiency gains any industry can reasonably achieve, Agfa said, so the company has been forced to increase prices up to 70% for medical film. The new price is effective immediately.

Agfa competitor Carestream Health announced its own price increase on medical imaging film in April.
