London hospital on BMJ award short list

Fifty-nine healthcare teams from across the U.K. have been named on a short list for the British Medical Journal Awards 2014, including a London hospital that uses diagnostic ultrasound for its emergency gynecology service.

Whipps Cross University Hospital has been nominated emergency medicine team of the year for its one-stop gynecology services that helps women with problems such as ectopic pregnancy, extreme morning sickness, and pelvic inflammatory disease receive fast, safe, and effective care, starting with a diagnostic ultrasound.

Now in its fifth year, the awards recognize U.K.-based teams who have made a positive impact on healthcare both in the U.K. and internationally, according to the BMJ. Winners will be announced at a ceremony held at the Park Plaza Hotel in Westminster on May 8.
