May 9, 2012 -- Breast-specific gamma imaging (BSGI) developer Dilon Diagnostics is highlighting clinical research regarding its declipseSPECT device presented in March at the Society of Surgical Oncology (SSO) annual cancer symposium.
European researchers found that the company's SurgicEye declipseSPECT, an intraoperative handheld 3D image viewing device, may improve the accuracy of radioguided surgeries by providing 3D images of the tumor and lymph nodes, Dilon said.
Surgeons from the Netherlands Cancer Institute in Amsterdam found that declipseSPECT could support radioguided surgery by determining the precise 3D localization of the marked cancer and lymph nodes in the operating room, according to Dilon. In addition, surgeons from the University Hospital of Technische Universität München found that the system enabled physicians to intraoperatively image all of the nodes seen in preoperative imaging.
