Agfa sells Orbis to German, Swiss hospitals

December 14, 2011 -- Agfa Healthcare has sold its Orbis hospital and clinical information systems (HIS/CIS) software to the Städtisches Klinikum Karlsruhe in Germany and plans to install it in January 2012.

Orbis will replace an existing HIS/CIS for the 1,500-bed hospital, a maximum care facility with 22 medical departments and four institutes providing care to 57,000 inpatients and 161,000 outpatients annually.

Agfa also announced that the Universitäre Psychiatrische Dienste in Bern, Switzerland, will install Orbis in all of its facilities at the end of 2012. The facilities treat 12,000 inpatients, recurring patients, and outpatients each year.
