HIMSS launches U.K. business

The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) is launching a U.K. subsidiary after taking full control of an event-planning firm specializing in healthcare IT.

HIMSS has acquired full ownership of Citadel Events after initially taking a minority position in 2012. HIMSS had partnered with IT education firm BCS to present the HC2013 and HC2014 conferences, the latter of which is being held 19-20 March in Manchester.

The new subsidiary, called HIMSS UK, will run a series of regional one-day Health Insights events throughout the U.K., which will include discussion of how National Health Service (NHS) trusts have benefited from the initial round of the NHS England Tech Funds.

Another HIMSS UK initiative will be further engagement by U.K. trusts in the HIMSS Analytics EMR Adoption Model (EMRAM), an eight-point scoring system for healthcare IT adoption.
