Sectra adds to PACS in Northern Ireland

PACS firm Sectra has won an expansion to add digital breast imaging to its existing PACS contract in Northern Ireland.

Sectra said it signed the expansion with the Department of Health, Social Services, and Public Safety, which will be adding the ability to handle breast imaging studies to its existing centralized regional PACS. Breast imaging studies will now be available at screening centers throughout Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland has one of the world's largest and most integrated regional imaging IT networks, with 1.4 million radiology and mammography exams acquired each year. The network includes 27 hospitals, organized in five trusts, and four breast screening centers, according to Sectra, which signed its original PACS contract in 2010.
