By AuntMinnieEurope.com staff writers

May 10, 2012 -- Lumbar spine scans generate more than 25% of monthly MRI procedures at Newcastle Clinic, a private clinic in the U.K. that operates an open MRI scanner.

Newcastle Clinic, which has a Signa Ovation scanner (Siemens Healthcare), also reports that neurological/brain scans account for approximately 20% of its 150 monthly referrals, followed by cervical spine studies at approximately 18%. The facility said it receives NHS and private referrals from locations as distant as Scotland and Chester.
