EANM announces 2017 board members

In a letter from President Dr. Arturo Chiti, the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) announced its board members for 2017.

New board members include the following:

  • Dr. Kristoff Muylle, board president
  • Dr. Jolanta Kunikowska, secretary/treasurer
  • Dr. Wim Oyen, EANM president-elect
  • Dr. Roberto Delgado Bolton, committee coordinator
  • Dr. Francesco Giammarile, congress chair
  • Dr. Jan Pruim, education chair

Chiti also gave members perspective on the state of the association and future directions for EANM, noting that EANM now represents radiopharmaceutical imaging and therapy professionals from one-fifth of the world's countries.

As for the future, multimodality and hybrid imaging will play important roles, Chiti said.

"Multimodality and hybrid imaging is now the greatest part of our daily work and will represent the main imaging approach in the coming years," Chiti wrote. "Evolution in nuclear medicine is driven by the scanners we are using but, most of all, by the radiopharmaceuticals that are available for the functional characterization of diseases."

Chiti's term as EANM president ends 31 December.
