GE, Karolinska finalize long-term deal

GE Healthcare and Karolinska University Hospital have signed a 14-year contract aimed at improving pelvic cancer treatment.

The partnership aims to increase care efficiency and decrease unwarranted clinical variation in treatment for pelvic cancer, according to GE and Karolinska. In addition to installing a PET/CT imaging platform, GE will also be providing consultancy services and healthcare analytics tools. The contract includes an option to extend the deal for an additional six years.

GE noted that Caradigm's Caradigm Intelligent Platform (CIP) will be used at the hospital to combine clinical patient data, financial data, and operational data from different systems to facilitate clinical decision support, analysis, and prediction. Caradigm is GE's healthcare IT joint venture with Microsoft.
